Meet Jennifer Haagenson

Licensed Professional Counselor, Founder, Anchors of Grace, and Owner, ReEndeavor Counseling

As a pastoral spouse myself, I understand the unique challenges and blessings that come with this role. My heart is to extend grace to ministry wives and offer support through difficult times. Through Anchors of Grace, we walk this journey together, supporting one another as we navigate both the beautiful and gnarly complexities of ministry life.

Before becoming a counselor, I spent 16 years in ministry work—teaching, pastoring, and directing children’s ministries—which allowed me to learn a lot about ministry life and about people. One of the things that has clearly stood out in my time in ministry is that many, especially pastoral spouses, feel alone and don't know where to turn, especially in difficult times.

I went through my own season of struggle during my time as a pastor’s spouse. During that season, I sought out safe environments where I could address the realities of the challenges I was facing with safe people in restoration settings. Seeking my own counseling and healing and walking my own journey of recovery clarified my calling to become a counselor and support others on similar journeys. I completed my Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree from Capella University in 2022 and have been engaged in supporting others in their journeys through the difficult years since then. Whether addressing anxiety, grief, relationship challenges, or other life dynamics, I walk alongside clients with compassion and hope.

When not counseling, I enjoy spending time with my husband and my two teenage children. I also enjoy snowboarding, mountain biking, playing pickleball, and continuing my own journey of personal growth. One of my most recent growth journeys was tackling my fear of heights. The climax of that adventure was skydiving in Tennessee.

  • What is the cost of the intensive?

We try to run everything through insurance that way there is less individual cost for you.  If you are looking to pay without insurance, let us know that as well and we can help you understand what your responsibility would be.  For those with WebTPA, insurance covers a large portion of the intensive. Contact us to determine your insurance coverage.

  • What Is the purpose of this intensive?

Ministry life can be lonely and painful at times and beautiful and rewarding at other times.  Sometimes, it is both of those at the same time.  We want you to know you are not alone and aim to provide a supportive environment where you can get away from the business of life and taking care of everyone around you and can spend some uninterrupted time caring for yourself and being cared for by experienced mental health professionals so that you can return to ministry and your family more refreshed and better equipped for the journey ahead.

  • What topics will be covered?

The intensive will cover topics such as these and more: communication skills, stress management, self-care, grace, compassion fatigue, church based trauma, conflict resolution, burnout, and spiritual renewal.

  • Who should attend?

Pastoral spouses and ministry spouses are encouraged to attend. The program is designed to address their unique challenges and support their well-being.

  • How will the intensive be structured?

The intensive will consist of 3-4 group sessions a day and at least two individual sessions throughout the week.  We try to provide a healthy mix of individual reflection and structured programming.

  • Is accommodation provided?

Since we believe in community, we live in community during the intensive.  We will be staying on location with all the amenities provided for.  Don’t worry, we are not tent camping.  We hope to blend a nature-like feel in an elegant environment. Meals will be provided with dietary needs  considered.

  • Who is the intensive not appropriate for?

We are not an inpatient facility.  While we do offer accommodations on site, we do not provide 24/7 care or supervision.  We are considered out-patient treatment.  If you are in an active suicidal crisis or in other ways are unable to keep yourself safe when unsupervised, you will need to seek treatment to establish safety prior to attending our intensive.  If you have questions regarding whether this intensive is an appropriate level of care for you, contact us and our staff can help answer your questions.

  • Do you offer remote counseling options?

Yes, we offer online counseling sessions for those unable to attend in person. This allows us to serve pastoral spouses in certain states throughout the nation.

  • How do I sign up for the Intensive?

To schedule a session, you can contact us at 208-745-3359, or email us at info@anchorsofgrace.com. You can also fill out the form on our Contact Us page.

  • What should I bring to the intensive?

Participants should bring a notebook, comfortable clothing, and an open heart. Specific instructions will be provided closer to the event.

  • Can I bring a friend?

Our counseling intensives are open to any ministry leader spouse.  When considering whether to come with someone you know, it is important to also consider whether, for each of you, having a friend there will increase your ability to be authentic and vulnerable or whether that will hinder it.    If having a friend will restrict your ability or their ability to be honest and vulnerable, it would be best to attend on your own.
